Carpet Installation Process
Installing your brand new carpeting is a relatively quick thing, but you should take certain steps in order to guarantee a quality finished project. An accurate measurement is the most important part so you can make sure you have no hiccups when installing your carpeting.
Your new carpeting should be fixed to your sub-floor, with a cushioned underlay for more comfort and insulation. Additional steps and/or materials may be needed depending on where your new carpeting is going to be.
Every Detail Counts
Even the slightest little details can have a major impact on the look and feel of your new carpet installation. In some of my situations where our rooms have had different flooring materials, such as a carpeted bedroom that leads to a wood floor hallway, it’s important to ensure that the flooring materials transition smoothly from one room to the other.
Carpet Density: More Important Than You Think
Out of all the factors that go into the quality of carpeting, density is among the most important. The denser a carpet is, the more durable and resilient it will be.
This does not really need a lot of explanation. It’s considered compact when the tufts (which make up carpeting) are packed closely together; the carpeting’s thinner when these tufts are spaced far apart. Bend it back when you’re looking at a sample. It’s not dense carpeting if the backing is an easy thing to see. You should also press into the carpeting; if you can feel the backing easily, the carpet isn’t dense.
Exactly why is density so significant in regards to carpeting? For one thing, it determines how tough and resilient the carpet is. Thin Carpeting can not withstand much compared to packed carpeting. It’s simply more likely to become matted and crushed. Packed carpeting can endure mistreatment with much more grace, and it feels a lot softer and more lavish beneath your feet. Look carefully at any given carpeting that you are considering. DO NOT just take a salesperson’s word for it.
